Turks consider it rude to blow your nose in company. They will take themselves off to a secluded spot to clear their trunks. A good old British raspberry into a hankerchief at the dinner table is met with glares of disdain. Be warned.

Turks would also consider the use of a handkerchief to be disgusting, carrying ones snot around in your pocket is not consider to be clean.
Just got back from Beijing where it's much the same. Although it's fine to honk up a nice wedge of phlegm and spit it onto the street.
...I don't think it's just Turks who consider snot rags in your breast pocket the most fabulous of practices in 'civil societies'.
As for me, I side with the Indians.
